Western Themed Wedding: Maura and Andrew in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
If you want a western themed wedding, you can't get much more western than Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the site for the wedding of Maura and Andrew. This couple chose to get hitched in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, a log-hewn church in Teton National Park, which provided literally built-in western wedding decoration through the natural log interior and features a cathedral ceiling with exposed log rafters.
Friends and family, after having been directed to parking spaces by cowboys on horseback, observed the exchange of vows from appropriately matching wooden-slated pews decorated with mason jars filled with wildflowers that provided refreshingly minimalist wedding aisle decoration for this western themed wedding.
The bridal gown chosen by Maura was a Monique Lhullier gown. The white, strapless, A-line wedding dress combined a molded bodice with sweetheart neckline and a floral-embellished, flouncy pick-up skirt with a chapel train. For the ceremony, the bride’s feet were shod with Prada ballet flats, while up top she wore a nearly fingertip-length Mantilla type veil, a cherished heirloom worn by both her mother and grandmother on their wedding days.
Post ceremony, Maura traded her family heirloom veil for something with more of a western theme - a white fabric rose choker. She also traded her Prada flats for a pair of black Luchese cowboy boots offering feminine style in the form of small pink diamonds and hearts plus large white stylized butterflies.
Western themed wedding table decoration for the reception, held at the Crescent H Ranch, included rawhide-covered tables accented with just-picked-looking wildflowers stuffed in Mason jars and barnwood boxes so that no two tables were exactly alike. For consistency, table numbers were painted on weathered wood blocks by hand, using white paint. Another western theme wedding reception idea included rows of shot glasses laid out on barnwood boxes ready to serve guests who could select form five varieties listed on the whiskey menu. Event designer, Cecelia Heffernan, added extra western wedding table decoration style with napkins wrapped in rustic leather twine.
Guests of this western themed wedding dined under tents, enjoying elk, fresh trout from the Snake River, and a David Bruce Pinot Noir shipped in from Sonoma, California. Guests were also able to satisfy their sweet tooth. Chocolate cupcakes, topped with white icing and featuring thin chocolate wafers "branded" with the couple's initials protruding from their tops, covered the top of another barnwood box.
As is customary for weddings in Big Sky country, this western themed wedding concluded with guests giving Maura and Andrew a sparkling send off by way of lighted sparkler sticks, each held high and spewing a glittering light show against the blackness of the night sky. If a western wedding theme idea is important to you, then you can’t do much better than a wide-open range of Wyoming wildflowers encompassed by the Grand Teton Mountains like the locations offered by Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
