Column Wedding Decor
Using Columns In Wedding Decor
Some brides feel that the old saying, the bigger, the
better is true. They want to add a sense of largeness
to their wedding decor. Many decorators share this
vision. It is similar to those who build their houses on
hills or small inclines to make their house appear
larger than it actually is.
A great way to add that fancy appeal to a wedding is to
use columns. Columns are a traditional way to add class
and elegance to any wedding. They give the wedding a
Roman look, in a simple way.
Using columns in wedding decoration is a simple task.
Most brides choose to rent their columns from local
wedding rental companies. It is possible however to buy
columns at many large craft outlets.
The columns you may purchase may need to be painted
however. Most of the columns used for weddings are not
as heavy as they look, but some of them are tall and may
need to be delivered, as they will not fit in most
vehicles.
To make the most of columns, it is good to use taller
columns at doorways or entrances. This allows the guest
to immediately sense the largeness of the decor. Another
good place to put tall columns is in the front of the
ceremony location directly in front of and to the sides
of where the wedding couple will stand for their vows.
Smaller columns are widely used in todays wedding
decor. They can be used to hold the guest book or for
the minister or wedding official to place their
materials. Columns are also commonly used for unity
candles that are not placed in candelabras. For an extra
dramatic look, brides can also line the outer edges of
the ceremony location with shorter columns.
The beauty of using columns is that you can make them as
simple or as elaborate as youd like. They are beautiful
both ways. Some brides choose to use them as they are.
Most are painted white and can be gorgeous standing
alone. Other brides choose to decorate their columns.
Taller columns can be decorated in several ways. Tulle
can be used to spice them up. By wrapping them in tulle
garland, the column is immediately transformed. Tulle
can also simply be draped over the top of the column.
Different colors of tulle can add a dramatic look to an
ordinary white column.
Garlands of greenery and flowers as well as strings of
pearls and beads are also useful in this decorating.
Strings of white lights can add special lighting to a
column as well. Shorter columns can also be decorated
with tulle. Setting candles or flowers on top of the
shorter columns is a great way to accessorize.
Columns are a wonderful and easy way to add height and
class to your wedding decor. They have the ability to
command attention and are a great asset to any wedding
style. Brides can use them as they see fit and add
personal preference in decorating them. Overall, they
are versatile wedding accessories a bride should not go
without.
