Wedding Bouquets For The Bridesmaids

The second most important floral pieces at a wedding are the bouquets for the bridesmaids. The brides of course should be the focus, however the bridesmaids bouquets should also gain attention. Use these tips as a guide when you are trying to choose your size, type, and design of your bridesmaids bouquets.

The size of a bridesmaids bouquet is not important. However, it must not be bigger than the brides. Todays bridesmaids are carrying smaller and simpler bouquets, quite simply because todays brides are doing the same. Many bridesmaids are carrying a single or a few of the same flower.

Some brides are still choosing enormous bouquets and giving their bridesmaids slightly smaller versions of their own. If you have quite a few attendants you may want to consider having small bouquets because of the price. Bouquets are expensive, even when they are small.

Brides traditionally gave their maid of honor a slightly smaller version of their bouquet, and the rest of the maids a slightly smaller version of the maid of honor. This was done mostly out of respect for the maid of honor. Today, brides are choosing to give all maids the same bouquet and often times it is nothing like theirs. All of the bouquets always coordinate well together, but they are not identical.

For example, a bride who chooses a red rose bouquet might use a group of three white roses for their maids bouquets. This is a smart move for several reasons. First, since the bridesmaids will be wearing darker colors than the bride, the white will show up better against their dresses, while the red really makes the brides white or ivory dress pop. Secondly, todays bride wants to be more independent and wants to have a bouquet all her own.

The designs of todays bridesmaid bouquets are simple. Many consist of a small group of identical flowers tied with a shoestring bow ribbon. Others consist of the same small group but with ribbon wrapped around their stems. The stems can be long or short. Not too many brides are using spray bouquets any longer. The sprays work well for maids that will walk down the aisle alone, but most take two arms to hold correctly, so maids who will be escorted down the aisle should probably not carry a spray.

Many bridesmaid bouquets are so simple that the bride and her attendants can make them. Brides who are using faux flowers can have a bouquet making party where she can offer food and spirits and allow each bridesmaid to make their own bouquet. All bouquets will end up virtually identical, but it is fun to let everyone make their own. It also saves time and money. Making your own bouquets can save more than $500 for a group of five attendants.

So, when trying to choose your wedding bouquets for the bridesmaids, think about size, type, and design. Consider how the bouquets will look with their dresses. Also consider how their bouquets will coordinate with your bouquet and dress. Above all, choose a design that is not only economical, but also beautiful.
