Beautiful Backyard Weddings

For a private and intimate wedding ceremony, brides might consider having their wedding in a backyard. In the South, this is the ideal place for those who dont want to be married in the family church or chapel.

This timeless idea not only saves money, but also offers the privacy and closeness some couples desire. Backyard weddings are easy to decorate and plan because the couple is familiar with the location and has the opportunity to visit it and try out different decorating ideas ahead of time.

A backyard wedding does not necessarily have to be in the couples backyard. Many brides choose to use the home they grew up in as their wedding location. Sometimes a friend or family member may offer their yard as a wedding location. No matter what type of backyard, brides can decorate beautifully. Yards with ponds or those that are landscaped nicely are among the easiest yards to decorate for a wedding.

Couples who choose to plan a backyard wedding should certainly be aware of their space limitations. Most backyard wedding can accommodate around 50 people or less. Bigger backyards, such as those on farms, can accommodate many more however.

Brides should be aware of the space and limit the guest list accordingly. If the bride and groom both have huge families, the backyard wedding may not be an ideal venue, unless the couple has a small intimate ceremony with few guests and then invites more people to the reception.

Creating seating for guests in a backyard wedding is extremely simple. White wooden fold-up chairs work wonderfully and need little decoration if any. By creating an aisle and lining each side of it with rows of chairs, the seating can be perfect. To add some spice, brides can consider adding chair decorations such as tulle bow wraps or sprigs of flowers on the end of each row.

Bringing the surrounding natural elements into the wedding is the most important aspect of decorating for a backyard wedding. Backyards with pools are fantastic for this type of wedding.

For an evening backyard wedding with a pool, brides can float candles in the pool for an extra romantic touch. Tiki torch type lanterns are also great for evening backyard ceremonies. For daytime ceremonies, the wedding arch or pedestals are also recommended. These allow the bride and groom a distinct place to stand for the ceremony.

If the backyard is large and the guest count is small, the couple can even host their reception in the backyard. For casual weddings, the couple can consider an upscale barbeque style reception. For more formal affairs, the couple can decorate in a tea party or garden party style.

Backyard weddings can be extremely romantic. The personal flair that comes along with these weddings is one of a kind. They send out a sense of family and provide privacy some couples long for. The backyard wedding can be extravagant and highly decorated or can be simple with the focus on the event taking place.
