Need A Good Cinderella Wedding Idea?

Every bride who has imagined her wedding since childhood, has indulged in at least a momentary fantasy starring herself as Cinderella walking down the aisle to meet Prince Charming. The good news is that there are plenty of vendors out there fully equipped to make your idea for a Cinderella wedding come true. The bad news is that you will have so many choices that it won’t be easy to decide which sparkly tiara is the one you want.

If you are lucky enough to have the play showing somewhere in town, go see it. Note the costume choices, especially the ones that strike you as perfect for your fairy tale. If any strike you as something that you cannot do without, ask the prop master or costume designer where he or she found it. They will gladly name the vendor for you.

If it is something they created themselves and it would be impossible for you to use or rent the prototype used in the stage production, you might be able to hire them to create one especially for you.

If it is not the Cinderella story that you love but the idea of a large Cinderella-like wedding, consider the possibilities and/or necessities:

  • For you, a bell shaped dress that sparkles and shimmers in the light, a small strand of pearls with matching earrings, tiara, and shoes that look like they are made of glass.
  • Pastel colors including white or ivory, dusky pink, sky blue, sea green, pale yellow, and lavender.
  • Lilies, babies breath, daffodils, or white, pink, or yellow roses – any flowers that are light and feathery as opposed to huge and bright.
  • A silky ring pillow for the ring bearer to carry.
  • For the groom, an all white tux or a black and white tux, both with tails.

When planning the before and after details (invitations and thank you notes) and the reception, be sure to always think of your Cinderella wedding idea first.

Scrolls for wedding invitations, place cards, and thank you notes add a nice royal touch. It’s especially important for the invitations as you want to communicate that they should wear their fairy tale fanciest clothes. Make sure the print is an elaborate calligraphy or script and don’t scrimp on the titles of ‘Lady’ and ‘Sir’. Top it off with a real wax seal.

Continue your Cinderella wedding idea after the ceremony with a reception set in a fancy outdoor rose garden, mansion, or a ballroom if you prefer the indoors. Red carpets and various pairs of glass slippers are a must and if you can find one, a pumpkin coach. You’d be surprised what you can rent.

Long stemmed candles as well as strewn flowers with a nice scent underfoot will add to the fairy tale Cinderella wedding idea. On the cake table, a server with an intricately carved handle and special fluted champagne glasses for you and your sweetie. On any hors d’oeuvres tables or bars, ice sculptures of swans or other Cinderella wedding related images will add a nice touch.

On table tops, any combination of these will work magic along with little bubble blowers for when you and your new spouse depart. Fancy little copies of the book re-written to be the story of you and your love make great take home souvenirs for your guests and can serve as place cards as well.

The meal should be something light and abundant for a brunch or lunch wedding, many fancy powdered pastries and fresh fruits with a variety of juices. For dinners, a traditionally classic meal of steaks or roast chicken, baby red potatoes, and salad topped off with rich wedding cake with ganache.

Follow up after your fairy tale Cinderella wedding idea with thank you notes inscribed with images of glass slippers, magic wands, a fairy godmother, or the two of you superimposed in the background. You’ll create a fairy tale for everyone who comes to share your day.
