Christmas Wedding Decoration Ideas: Glittery Metallic Motifs

There are a lot of Christmas wedding decoration ideas out there, and one is the have a Christmas wedding theme where metallic colors like gold, silver, platinum, and copper take prominence. One resource that can help spark ideas to decorate a wedding with a glittery metallic scheme is Christmas Styles (DK Publishing, 2004) written by two “specialists of Christmas” – Debi Staron and Bob Pranga – known as Dr. Christmas. Here are a few Christmas wedding decoration ideas pulled from pictures and information on how to decorate homes using a metallic motif found in the “All That Glitters” section starting on page 40.

The first Christmas wedding decoration idea using a metallic motif as derived from the text and pictures on pages 42 and 43 is to use gold and other metallic colors as accents for white wedding props, which infuses a Christmas wedding theme with winter wedding motifs. Naturally, it is easy to adopt the white Christmas tree decoration idea presented in the photo for wedding ceremony and reception decoration. Using a few similar white mini-trees trimmed with gold and silver Christmas ornament decorations would provide good wedding aisle decorations without obstructing the view of guests witnessing the ceremony.

Another idea based on the picture is to use tall white columns for wedding decorations, which would be perfect as wedding alter decorations. Following the picture examples, turn them into lighted column decorations by wrapping them with a combination of clear Christmas lights and white artificial garlands. Add big silver bows up top for the perfect finishing touch. Supplement the wedding column decorations by adding miniature silver-and-gold sleighs filled with large gold and silver Christmas ornament decorations as wedding alter decorations, just like the one in the foreground of the picture on page 42.

The next of the wedding decorating ideas comes from pages 44 and 45, which present the end results of decorating a home where the color scheme included black, gold, silver, and pearl Christmas ornament decorations as trimmings for a tree and garlands of green. On page 44 is a picture showing an ornate fireplace dressed up with green garland that is itself embellished with gold and silver Christmas ornament decorations in various sizes and shapes along with a string of outdoor Christmas light decoration that features “milk-colored ceramic bulbs.” Large gold-edged black velvet bows at either end of the mantle add a real styling bonus. It would be a simple matter to replicate the arrangement and create decorated wedding arches for use as wedding alter decorations and wedding aisle decorations.

Also on page 45 is a picture of a potential reception table centerpiece arrangement that would be simple enough to replicate as Christmas wedding centerpieces. Silver-painted fir branches deliver a base that is ideal for winter wedding motifs. They find their visual counterpoint in a ruddy bowl filled with red Christmas ornament decorations accented with elaborate gold designs and an ornate ruddy etched-glass candleholder with a small candle inside. For added styling, several tea lights and several more Christmas ornament decorations are nestled amid the fir branches.

The final Christmas wedding decoration idea using metallic colors is a Christmassy medieval theme wedding for which the pictures on pages 46 and 47 can be your guide. The Christmas tree decorations and materials set the luxury stage with a blend of ornate Christmas ornament decorations in gold, silver, platinum, and copper metallic colors as well as ruby jewel tones in addition to crush-velvet ribbons in “deep hunter greens and moody burgundies.” The end result was that “renaissance-inspired shapes and patterns [mixed] with religious icons to evoke the grandeur of cathedrals and royal castles.”
