Life’s A Beach, Why not your Wedding too?

Perhaps you are planning a destination wedding in Saint Croix, or maybe you have a more modest budget and just love the islands. Either way, beach wedding decorations can liven up a traditional event and make your nuptials truly memorable.

Beach wedding decorations give the married couple a chance to show their creativity and fun-loving personalities. Announce your beach theme wedding with your invitation and keep the theme consistent with beach wedding decorations at the event.

Beach Theme Wedding Invitation

Make sure to integrate the beach theme wedding decorations in your invitation. Consider sending your invite attached to a small seashell wind chime. Small chimes can be purchased at resort souvenir shops (or the Internet). Use colorful ribbon to attach the printed details of your big event. Guests can hang the invitation in their home. Each time a breeze rolls through, your guests will be reminded of your upcoming wedding.

Inexpensive sunglasses from the local discount store can also be used for a non-traditional invite. Look for large plastic frames in bright colors to grab the attention of your guests. Print the details of the wedding and attach them to a hanging tag on the glasses.

The Setting

If you are holding your wedding at a beach, make sure to provide some shady areas for your guests and consider renting tents in the event of inclimate weather.

As your guests enter the reception, have them greeted with a lei. Have servers ready with fruity tropical drinks adorned with fruit and paper umbrellas.

Beach theme wedding decorations should be placed throughout the venue. Scatter sand and seashells with votive candles on cocktail tables. Tropical fruit or glass bowls containing tropical fish can be used as centerpieces for the dining tables. The corners of the dance floor can be decorated with inflated beach balls.

For larger budgets, beach wedding decorations, such as palm trees, sun umbrellas and surfboards, can be rented for the occasion.

Entertainment

Consider hiring a steel-drum band or have your DJ select beach-appropriate tunes (think Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Reggae and Calypso). Servers and staff should be attired in Hawaiian shirts. Hiring hula dancers would be a terrific splurge and a great way to get mixed generations on the dance floor.

Food

For the ultimate beach theme wedding a Luau-style menu is best. Start off with Pupu platters-- the perfect appetizer for a beach themed wedding. These platters can contain anything from sushi to pineapple. Pupu platters give you creative license to sample many things on the catering menu, like conch fritters!

Roast suckling "Kalua Pig" with pineapple is the perfect main dish. The slow cooked pork is savory and can serve large groups. Other traditional Hawaiian dishes include: Chicken Luau, poi, poke, fried rice and plenty of fresh fruit.

Don’t forget to add beach theme wedding decorations to the serving trays. Tropical flowers should adorn all passed dishes. Hibiscus and orchids are colorful choices. Preferably you’ll opt for fresh flowers, but great silk imitations are also available.

Make sure your wedding cake designer is up to speed on the theme. Convince your baker to use banana or coconut in the recipe to compliment the luau menu.

Now that you’ve incorporated these wonderful beach theme wedding decorations into your event, relax; grab a pina colada and limbo the night away.
