Las Vegas Theme Weddings: Are You Game?

So you're having a wedding. And this is not just any kind of wedding either, it's a Las Vegas theme wedding. Congratulations! You are in for a memorable wedding and a lot of fun, but I will warn you: you do have a little work ahead of you. In the end, all of the hours you put in will be worth it and you will be rewarded with the time of your life.

When you think of Las Vegas, what is it that comes to your mind? Quite possibly slot machines, poker tables, black jack dealers, and show girls; these are all things that may come to the forefront of your brain when you think of the famed city, and in the same respect these are all things that can be incorporated into your wedding to convey your theme, these are things that scream VEGAS and it is what people want to see at a Las Vegas theme wedding.

The first impression your wedding guests will have of your Las Vegas theme wedding is your Save The Date cards, or your wedding invitations if you skip that step. Your wedding invitations should reflect your theme! If you include some poker chips or playing cards with your invitations, your theme will be immediately relayed and it will make your guests want to see more. The attendance at your ceremony will be through the roof.

Poker chips, dice, and slot machines are all objects reminiscent of a visit to Las Vegas, and in that same respect these are all things that should be incorporated into your Las Vegas theme wedding. At your reception, try scattering different colored poker chips on your dinner table, around the dishes on your buffet table (if you have one, of course), and around the edges of the dance floor.

Don't go overboard with the poker chips, though. While they are a great accent and will greatly help to relay your Las Vegas wedding theme, they can get in the way while your guests are eating and can be potentially hazardous on the dance floor. So, needless to say, go easy with the poker chips--your guests will thank you.

If your wedding budget allows for it, try renting a "mobile casino" for your reception. You can hire a real black jack dealer or just have Uncle Harry deal for you. Keep in mind that in most places it is illegal to gamble, but if you give your guests pretend money to play with that should take care of that problem. Surprisingly enough, people will have more fun when they are not at risk of losing their own money.

As far as entertainment goes, it is okay to play regular music at your Las Vegas theme wedding, but when it comes to live entertainment, don't forget to stick to your theme. A live Elvis impersonator (or Uncle Harry again) should do the trick. Not only will it be visually amusing for your guests, but if the impersonator will lip sync it will be entertaining as well.
