Wedding Theme Dictates Ways To Decorate A Wedding Arch
There are many ways to decorate a wedding arch depending on the theme you have chosen for your wedding. Simple ingredients for decorating a wedding arch include lighting, flowers, ivy, cloth and virtually anything else you can sew or drape onto a column or archway.
The western themed wedding will have several ways to decorate a wedding arch. The style can be simple with flowers such as geraniums, sunflowers, strawflowers, zinnias, petunias or sweet peas. Wedding archways can be decorated with swags of gingham material in any color the bride chooses and tied back with twine. Hay or straw bales can be placed along side of the archway for a truly country effect.
There are several ideas for ways to decorate a wedding arch with a garden theme. Wedding archways can be decorated with white mini lights, flowers, draped with satin, silk or gossamer fabric and encircled with grape vine or ivy. Tulle can be woven throughout a wrought iron archway and decorated with silk flowers for a romantic ethereal effect. Silk material can be draped around the archway for a traditional Victorian theme wedding and the tiebacks can be silk roses. Pots of flowers can be placed along side the front of the decorated archway for accents.
There are several ways to decorate a wedding arch so as to attain a Greek, Roman or French flair. The columns can be draped with white material such as silk or gossamer fabric and decorated with white flowers such as carnations, calla lilies or roses. Further, decorate a wedding arch using greenery wound around the columns and archway to add color. Grape vines and faux grapes can also be wound around the Greek columns and archways. Smaller columns can be placed around the archway with floral arrangements on top.
Create a decorated wedding arch from French doorways using swags of French flowers. Toile material can be used to make a swag and then accented with floral arrangements at the three arch points. Other ways to decorate a wedding arch with a French style is to drape tiny white lights and babies’ breath around the archway and drape gauze or silk material behind the archway as a backdrop. This makes for a beautiful spot for photo opportunities during the reception.
For an oceanside wedding, decorate a wedding arch with gauzy material in any color you choose and then hang seashells on the material. Additionally, dangle seashell decorations hung on invisible fishing line from the archway. Satin tiebacks can be used to hold the gauze close to the archway for an outdoor wedding.
Other ways to decorate a wedding arch include wrapping tulle around the archway and sewing seashells onto the material for an oceanside wedding, decorating with silk rose buds for a Victorian wedding or tying small gingham bows on the tulle for a western wedding. Swag ideas for the archway include using pre-made lengths of silk flowers, hanging little sports paraphernalia for a sports themed wedding or using colored Christmas lights for a winter wedding.
The ways to decorate a wedding arch are as varied as the wedding themes. Virtually anything can be hung or draped to craft a decorated wedding archway. Just be sure to use the appropriate hardware to support your swags and floral decorations on the archway.
