Planning Your Cinderella Theme Wedding

What little girl doesn’t dream of growing up and marrying her prince charming? Modern brides are no different from their mothers. They all want the fairytale, and why shouldn’t she have it? Planning Cinderella themed weddings is simple so that even those of us without wedding planners can pull it off.

Choose your location before you order your invitations. Many times your dream location requires booking in advance, sometimes even a year or so. This may determine the wedding date of Cinderella themed weddings.

Popular choices of location include ballrooms, large estates and castles if you can find one. Sometimes an old stone church can double as the wedding and reception location; check with them if you can’t find a castle in your area.

Once you have established your wedding date you can choose your invitations. These can be as varied as the bride herself. Unique designs for Cinderella themed weddings include the scroll, boxed invitations with elaborate ribbons and designs that include gemstones or elaborate laser cutouts. Let your imagination guide you, as nothing is too good for royalty.

Cinderella themed weddings require a very special wedding gown. If you can’t remember what elements you want in your dress watch the movie Cinderella or get a copy of Princess Diana’s wedding. Think puffy sleeves, elaborate trims and ribbon, a large skirt and if you can’t find glass slippers there are certainly many designs out there that are made of comfortable plastics that can look just like them.

Your bridesmaids should have royal looking dresses as well. Choose dresses that match the ribbons on your dress, possibly pink, peach, rose, lavender or pastel blue. If your wedding is in the evening you could use darker colors. Cinderella themed weddings require the prince to be dressed beautifully as well. Be sure to help him choose a tuxedo that matches the style of your gown. If you want to go all out, rent a prince costume for your groom!

Cinderella themed weddings also require certain decorations at the reception. Think ballroom with chandeliers, lots of flowers on the tables, swags of flowers and mini lights on the head table, a decorated archway for your beautiful photographs and table settings of crystal and china with gold or silver accents.

Your cake should have decorations befitting Cinderella. No matter what the size of your cake, choose pastel roses, gold or silver accents, lots of piped swags and beautiful cutlery to help you cut your first slice.

The bride will also need to choose special favors for her guests and wedding party. They can be as elaborate or simply elegant as she chooses. Ideas for these favors include porcelain boxes, velvet bags, pairs of elegant taper candles wrapped with velvet ribbon, crystal boxes or anything else that you can think of or create. Many of these items can be found at your local craft store.

The final choice the bride should make is her exit from her ball. Brides have chosen a horse pulled carriage, a balloon ride or an antique car to whisk them away to their honeymoon after their Cinderella themed weddings. Any of these ideas will provide photos that you’ll remember for years to come.
