Easy Ways to Save on Church Wedding Ceremony Decorations

Traditional church weddings are still a popular way to wed and there are several ways that you can find or create lovely church wedding ceremony decorations. However, churches often pose a challenge when looking for wedding decorations.

Many churches may not allow you to use certain decorations or move their own plants and candle holders. Other churches may pose other challenges, like how to make your wedding elegant when the carpet is years and years old and not an ideal color.

You could spend lots of money trying to make the church wedding ceremony decorations lovely, but it certainly isn’t necessary. Following are some easy ways to save and still make a statement with your decor.

Church Alter Decorations

Most of the attention at your wedding will be centered at the altar. All eyes will be on this area, but you don’t want to over decorate because you, your soon-to-be husband and your wedding party should be the focus of the ceremony. Keep the decorations simple and balanced.

If you want the ceremony to be romantic and have a soft glow use a candelabra on either side of the altar area. You can even twist some flowers around the base if you would like to tie them in with your bouquet or your bridesmaids’ bouquets. Make sure you use drip less candles; most churches will require that you use them anywhere you plan to have candles.

Another simple way to add interest is to use two tall flower arrangements or two large plants or small trees with color coordinated ribbon. Using subtle church wedding ceremony decorations on your altar will allow people to focus on you and you soon-to-be spouse, and it has the added benefit of keeping costs down.

Church Aisle Decorations

Is the carpet or flooring ugly or just plain the wrong color for your plans? Instead of trying to cover it all up, cover the main places where you plan to walk, stand for the ceremony and take pictures. Use a simple white, ivory or other neutral toned and solid color runner down the main aisle. For dramatic effect, have someone roll it out right before your flower girl goes down the aisle.

A simple drop cloth in the same color can be used for the altar area. For safety sake, you may want to put a no slip rug pad under this particular church wedding ceremony decoration. No one wants to see a wounded clergyman, bride or groom. The runners and drop cloth can be purchased or rented. They will look elegant, and you probably won’t have to spend much; some churches will even provide them free or for a small cost.

Church Pew Decorations

You don’t have to spend big bucks to make an impression on the pews. For a few dollars each you can have ready-made ribbon or tulle bows in your colors or wedding white. If you have the time and a good instruction book or talented friend, do it yourself and save even more.

Cut costs in half by just doing every other pew; it will look just as lovely and possibly even more elegant. If you have your heart set on flowers everywhere for your church wedding ceremony decorations, consider using simple silk flowers accented by ribbon bows on every other pew. The ribbons will provide a big impact for fewer dollars and cutting down on the number of pews naturally cuts the costs.

Ultimately, simple and understated will actually serve you well for your church wedding ceremony decorations. The decor should accent your theme, colors and you rather than overwhelm the space. It is your day and less really is more.
