Create a Beautiful and Memorable Winter Wedding Bouquet

Here you will find a few ideas for winter wedding bouquets, some slightly more traditional and some more unconventional. But, all will unquestionably deliver beautiful and memorable winter wedding bouquets.

The first winter wedding bouquet idea is a solid half sphere of deep red roses. These work well to accent an all white wedding. Many winter brides have chosen to dress the whole wedding party in white using the flowers and accessories to add color. The red flowers against the white backdrop bring to mind the story of how Snow White was named, an excellent connotation for a bride looking for a fairy tale princess style wedding.

The sphere of roses should be as solid as possible without any of the roses crushing any of the others, two or three dozen may be needed depending on the size of the flower heads. Reds with blue tones are suggested over reds that are more orange in their hue. Little to no foliage is needed but make sure when choosing foliage that you select a deep green with more blue hues than yellow as a more yellow shade of green will clash with the deep red of the roses.

The only addition to this winter wedding bouquet beyond the roses can be a wide white ribbon, several lengths of iridescent ribbon, or a combination of the two, tied around the exposed stems. The plastic bouquet holder is not recommended for arranging this piece.

Less conventional, and slightly more costly, is a frosted sphere. There are many variations to consider when creating this winter wedding bouquet. The first is what to create the sphere from. Blown glass is going to be the most expensive but you will be able to keep it longer than the other options.

Hard plastic can also be formed into a sphere and frosted but plastic has a tendency to become brittle with age and exposure to elements (cold, sunlight, heat) and will eventually crack and break.

The final option is a balloon. Many gift and stationary stores have machines which allow them to make filled balloons. I’m sure you have seen these, they often contain candies or stuffed animals. The balloon you are going to want them to make for you will be much smaller than those with stuffed animals.

After you have selected what to make your winter wedding bouquet sphere out of you will then decide what to put in it. Since this is a winter wedding, fake snow or iridescent confetti is a good idea. Then come the flowers, since this is still a bouquet.

Silk flowers are probably a better bet for this kind of winter wedding bouquet so that you don’t have to worry later about preservation of fresh flowers. No matter what colors you choose; blues and purples or reds and greens are popular winter wedding colors, you can either fill the sphere with loose flowers or with flowers arranged into a bouquet.

Either way, you will still need a throw away bouquet, so keep that in mind while filling your sphere. You may also want to add ribbons to your winter wedding bouquet, but try not to add too much, simple is best with this creation.

Some other ideas for winter wedding bouquets include a lightly sprayed single poinsettia surrounded by its own foliage along with fake snow. Or skip the flowers altogether and create a bouquet from various pine and spruce tree branches with holly and mistletoe vines trailing from it.

Since only an estimated 13% of all weddings in the U.S. take place in the winter, you are already going against tradition, so why not go all the way and make your winter wedding bouquet stand out against tradition as well. Have fun planning your big day and remember, it is YOUR big day. You are only limited by your own imagination
