The How To's On Decorating For A Beach Party

There is nothing more fun than gathering a bunch of friends and family and celebrating your wedding on the beach. Decorating for a beach party – whether the party is intended to be your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner or engagement party – can be lots of fun! The following article is designed to provide some helpful hints and ideas on decorating for a beach party.

Decorating for beach party sounds easy, right? Put up a couple of umbrellas, serve fruity cocktails and play an old Beach Boys record. Not so fast! Successfully decorating for a beach party takes time, and more importantly, strategy!

The first step in decorating for your beach party is to decide if you want to have it on a real beach or dress up a location to look like a beach. Decorating for a beach party on the beach can be easier, since the sand, sun and water already exist, but it also presents challenges in the way of weather and other activities that may be happening at the beach.

Before you begin decorating for your beach party, look into where you want to have the shin-dig. If it's a public beach, you may need to check that there is not something going on that day (to make it overly crowded) and/or if it's a private beach, you may need to reserve it for several hours during the time your party will take place.

Assuming that you have your beach party on a real beach, the beach is already beautiful, so you won't need too many extravagant items when you're decorating for a beach party. Beach parties are designed to be laid back and relaxed in nature. Therefore, begin your decorating by purchasing a variety of lounge chairs that people can sit or lay in.

Depending on the weather, it's also a good idea to decorate your beach party with umbrellas that guests can stand underneath to shield them from the hot sun or the wind. Other great ways to decorate for your beach party are with props. Frisbees, footballs, giant beach balls, shovels and buckets are all things that guests can use while they're at your party. They're cheap to acquire and they're lots of fun, too!

No party would be complete without food and drink. Decorating for a beach party is more than just about the umbrellas, the sand and the surf! You can successfully decorate your beach party with the food and drinks that you serve.

Invest in tiny cocktail umbrellas and stick them in tropical drinks that you serve during the party. Spear exotic fruit, such as papaya, mango and pineapple, on kebab sticks and serve them as appetizers. Not only are they colorful, but they are tasty and a guaranteed crowd pleaser!

Decorating for a beach party is fun and can be fairly inexpensive, since the beach itself is the primary decoration! Use ideas from the natural landscape (the sea, the sand, the sun, surfing and/or marine animals) to accent your decorations. Either way, your relaxed beach party is sure to be a day of relaxation and fun!
