Asian Theme Wedding: Ideas To Give Your Celebration A Far East Flair
You don't have to be Asian to enjoy all of the sights, sounds
and tastes of an Asian theme wedding. Ideas for Asian theme weddings can range from simple (think “zen”) Japanese-inspired weddings to elaborate Chinese-style
wedding celebrations. The following article will provide some Asian theme
wedding ideas to give your ceremony and /or receprion a far East flair!
Dressing For Your Asian Theme Wedding
Asian fashion has many varieties, depending on which region in
Asia you travel to. When you're dressing for an Asian theme
wedding, think silks and light colored soft fabrics.
As for your hair, put it back tightly and secure it with
chopsticks or with a dragon fly or dragon comb. It may also be
nice to insert some Asian-inspired flowers into your hair, such as
orchids, bamboo or lilies. This will add a nice, simple look while
still giving you a touch of Asian influence. Wearing a simple
strand of pearls will complete your outfit.
Food For Your Asian Theme Wedding
Many people choose to have Asian theme weddings partly due to
their love for Asian cuisine. And there's good reason for that!
Asian food -- specifically Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean –
are generally well-liked by the masses. Serving this type of food
at your wedding will also add an exotic and original flavor to the
celebration!
Teriyaki chicken, won ton soup, chicken satay, shrimp stir fry and
pot stickers are all great choices to serve at your Asian theme
wedding. Offer your guests hot tea, instead of coffee and have
plenty of Sapporo and Kirin beer on hand. Toast the wedding with
sake (a kind of Japanese plum wine) instead of champagne and
decorate the tables with tiny bowls of edamame (soy beans) for
nibbling.
Place chop sticks on the tables, in addition to forks (older
guests and children may have problems with chopsticks).
Decorating Your Asian Theme Wedding
There are endless ways to decorate for your Asian theme wedding.
If you intend to go more toward the Thai Asian inspired
decorations, then you might think about purchasing tiny statues of
Thai gods and positioning them on the tables and around the
reception area.
For more of a Chinese theme
wedding, cover tables in deep reds and golds,
two colors that are very prevalent in China. Use dragons as
accents. Also, depending on the Chinese New Year, use that animal
(snake, horse, etc) to additionally add Asian authenticity to your
wedding.
Next, you will want asian themed centerpieces. For each table, create an asian wedding
centerpiece with a lantern by using Shoji lanterns. Similarly, for
more of a Japanese theme
wedding, use tiny water fountains filled with
floating candles or orchids, or insert several bamboo sticks in a
vase filled with smooth stones. All have more of a Japanese flair
to them. For more of a fun look, play Japanese animé on
televisions as guests arrive, or simply use popular animé figures
as centerpiece decorations.
If you're excited about trying something different and exotic for your
wedding, consider an Asian theme wedding. The rich culture of the
far East will make a perfect setting for your celebration and the
uniqueness of the theme will be one that guests will not be able
to stop talking about!
