History
Historical eras offer quite a few ideas for a theme
wedding. History offers inspiration for style of dress
for yourself and your wedding party, wedding

Imagine the groom and ushers in Edwardian morning coats
and top hats, the bride and her ladies in elegant period
silks.
The Victorian era ushered in lavish white wedding gowns,

history.

silk banners and pennants fluttering from the parapets

well. Any era that is instantly recognizable for its
decorating and clothing styles is fair game. A Roaring
20s wedding theme dresses the bride in a chic chemise

The sleek lines of art deco are a classic inspiration
for centerpieces and wedding favors, and the only

wedding based on region is the Antebellum South, with

Hawaiian luau or a Midwestern shivaree. Step outside our
borders and you can draw inspiration from leprechauns
with an Irish wedding theme, or from the dusky hills of
Tuscan Italy, from the Basque hills and flamenco lace or
from sunny Mexico for a real Southwestern fiesta.
Fantasy and Literature
A modern favorite wedding theme is the fairy tale - most
often Cinderella. What could be more romantic than
arriving at the church in a fantasy coach and four, and
being swept off to live happily ever after by your
charming prince. Disney weddings play to the happily
ever after - you can even have your wedding at Disney,
in one of their wedding halls. Each Disney wedding
destination offers a different fantasy theme, from
tropical island to Cinderella's castle. Other fantasies
offer ideas for a wedding theme as well. Fairies,
angels, dragons and teddy bears are all popular wedding
themes.
Tradition
Ethnic and cultural traditions offer a rich vein to mine
for ideas for a theme wedding. Asian weddings - Indian,
Chinese, and Japanese - are favored by more than those
of Asian descent. Chinese dragon and phoenix, fireworks
and bright red silks to denote joy are popular parts of
a Chinese wedding theme. Italian weddings offer
beautiful traditions like walking the bride to church
and lavish feasts. Every culture has its own wedding
traditions, and many couples find meaning in basing
their weddings on themes drawn from those traditions.
Seasons and Nature
Every season offers ideas for a theme wedding, from
winter wonderland wedding themes to spring garden
weddings to weddings on the beach or out at sea on a
cruise ship to autumn harvest feasts.
Those are just a sampling of places where you can draw
ideas for your own wedding theme. Choose something that
appeals to you, and you'll be surprised how easy it
becomes to pick flowers, decorations, dresses and favors
