Simple Wedding Decorations
Ideas for Simple Wedding Decorations
Sometimes the most romantic things are the most simple.
A single daisy, a touch of lace, a circlet of
wildflowers. Sometimes the simple ideas are the best. If
the simplicity of a white cotton dress and a wreath of
daisies in your hair appeals to your sense of style,
read on for some ideas for simple wedding decorations.
Wildflowers and simplicity were meant to go together.
For lovely, romantic wedding reception table
centerpieces, collect glass vases from yard sales, flea
markets and discount stores. Choose all one style, or
mix and match the colors and designs. On the morning of
the wedding, fill each glass vase with wildflowers and
place one or more in the center of each table.
Candles are another classically beautiful wedding
decoration. They bring to mind the spark of love, and
are symbolic of romance. Some of the most beautiful
ideas for simple wedding decorations include candles.
Create an elegant path of light for your walk up the
aisle. Slip hurricane lamp chimneys over pure white
pillar candles and stand along the aisle every few feet.
Another idea for a simple wedding decoration using
candles is this classically elegant and beautifully
simple table centerpiece. Start with a round mirror laid
flat in the center of the table. Using a hot glue gun,
affix an ivy swag along the perimeter of the mirror.
Place a round bubble bowl in the middle of the mirror.
Fill the bowl with about 2 inches of iridescent aquarium
marbles, then add water to just about the halfway mark.
Float pure white heart-shaped floating candles in the
bowl. Light as the wedding reception starts. The
flickering candlelight will waver through the water and
reflect off the mirror and stones in a fantasy play of
subtle rainbows.
Simplicity can work for the bride's attire as well as
the wedding decorations. To go with the ideas for simple
wedding decorations, choose a flowing white dress in
cotton gauze or pure silk. Keep the wedding veil simple
as well - a simple circlet of baby's breath with
sweetheart roses with or without a demi-veil will be the
perfect note for a simple, romantic wedding. A simple
nosegay of wildflowers - or more sweetheart roses in a
wrist corsage - and a pair of pure white ballet slippers
complete a beautiful, classically simple bridal outfit.
For an evening, outdoor wedding, the most effective
decorations are simple ones. Some of the prettiest ideas
for simple wedding decorations are lighting ones.
Japanese paper lanterns - the big, white globe ones -
are perfect for setting an elegant tone for a backyard
wedding. Strung high overhead and fitted with white or
colored lights, they create a fantasy wonderland of
floating balls of light that dance and sway on every
passing breeze. Consider Japanese paper lanterns as an
alternative to the more commonly used miniature white
Christmas lights.
You can find more ideas for simple wedding decorations
by leafing through bridal magazines and florist's books.
Just keep in mind that less is more - simple can be
elegant, winsome or charming. Choose your style of
simplicity and turn it into a theme for a simply perfect
wedding day.
