Ideas for a Disney Themed Wedding
Just because you can't take the wedding to Disney
doesn't mean that you can't have a Disney themed
wedding. Just bring Disney to the wedding with some of
these ideas for a Disney themed wedding.
Even though we think 'kids shows' when we think Disney,
the reality is that our favorite Disney movies are the
stuff that romance is made of. Disney and Snow White,
Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, Belle and the Beast - even
Mickey and Minnie and Donald and Daisy and Simba and
Nala.
One of the ideas for a Disney themed wedding is to build
your wedding around Disney romances. Decorate with
balloons bearing the likenesses of famous Disney
couples. Pick up Christmas ornaments with Donald and
Daisy, Mickey and Minnie or other famous Disney couples
on them to hang around the room or have them
personalized with your names and wedding date to give
out as wedding favors to your guests.
Another idea for a Disney themed wedding is to choose
one Disney theme and use it in everything from your
wedding invitations to your wedding cake. Cinderella is
one of the most popular of the Disney wedding themes,
and many wedding decor companies sell Cinderella coaches
that you can use as centerpieces. Place one on each
table, overflowing with roses or trailing flowers. Glass
slippers filled with wedding candies and wrapped in
tulle netting make adorable Disney themed wedding favors
for a Cinderella wedding.
What's the best idea for a Disney themed wedding cake? A
fairy tale castle, complete with spun sugar turrets and
candied violet ornaments, of course. You can buy Disney
themed wedding invitations online or at any Hallmark
store, along with Disney wedding items like guest books
and cake knives. If you'd rather, you can find pictures
of Disney characters and themes that you like online and
use them to print your own invitations.
Disney colors are bright and clear. Decorate your
wedding hall in white with red, blue and yellow flowers
and ribbons. Tie bunches of balloons to the backs of
chairs, or float clouds of balloons above the head
table. Replicas of the Disney fairy tale castle make
wonderful centerpieces for the reception table, and use
Disney character models to hold place cards.
Don't forget some of the less well-known 'supporting
actors' from Disney movies when you're looking for table
decoration accents. One clever idea for a Disney themed
wedding, for instance, is to decorate each wedding
reception table in the theme of a different Disney
movie.
For the head table, use Cinderella with a fairy tale
coach and glass slippers. Set one table with yellow and
blue napkins, and a centerpiece of a basket of bright,
red apples. Use Seven Dwarves garden gnomes for place
holders. Decorate another table with the whimsical
Lumiere and Chip and Mrs. Potts.
A third can be dedicated to Jasmine and Aladdin, with
genie lamps for wedding favors, a fourth to The Lion
King with Nala and Simba taking center stage.
Merriweather and her sisters can enchant yet another
table, with the thorn-covered castle as centerpiece and
miniature gold spinning wheels as wedding favors. And of
course, no Disney wedding would be complete without a
Little Mermaid table and Tinkerbell presiding over the
Island of the Lost Boys.
As a final note, ideas for Disney wedding theme music
include all the classic love songs from Disney weddings
including "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" and "A Whole
New World".
